Course form can be absolutely crucial when looking for a winner. If you know your way around a place, you are going to have an advantage over somebody who has never been there before. The same applies to horses – knowing your way around a venue is always a big advantage. Adrian Wall has picked out three former course winners running on ITV at Aintree on Saturday.
We landed a tasty 67/1 treble at Ascot a few weeks ago and this week’s treble returns great odds at the time of posting. Best of luck if you have a play. Grand National tip.
Horaces Pearl is unbeaten and very smart prospect who won all three bumpers last season, including the Grade 2 here at the end of the season. Fergal O’Brien’s charge has made a brilliant start to his hurdles career, bolting up at Huntingdon in November before easily seeing off a very decent horse under a penalty at Newbury when last seen in February. Clearly saved for this, it’s a surprise to see him at such large odds and he rates as a cracking bet.
Strong Leader won this race a year ago in great style and will be bang there again if he’s on top form. He won nicely on return at Newbury and was amiss in the Long Walk next time before another poor effort in the Cleeve Hurdle. He has had wind surgery and that might help.
The reigning champ I Am Maximus heads the market for the Grand National. He also heads the weights and has to carry 11-12! He finished eighth to Galopin Des Champs in the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown when last seen but he will give it his all again!
