‘He could make it to the very top’ – Willie Mullins can’t wait for this dark horse

Wille Mullins has some decent chances on opening day.

Willie Mullins conquered all before him last and season and is expected to do so once again. He’ll have another very strong squad to go to war with this term and he has picked out several dark horses to follow. Fun Fun Fun

This horse perhaps isn’t he most straightforward of rides but she retains potential, especially now going chasing.

Mullins said: ‘She’s a nice, strong mare with loads of ability, but sometimes she can be her own worst enemy. She can be a difficult ride and too aggressive in her races. She has one of the best staying-chase pedigrees in the game, being from the same family as Yorkhill and The Listener, so she goes over fences and she has already schooled really well. This could be her job, and she might be easier to manage over fences.

It’s For Me

We didn’t get to see the best of this horse last term as a result of an injury setback but it’s fair to say that big things could be on the horizon.

His trainer said: ‘I thought he was one of my best novices last season. He beat Caldwell Potter in a maiden hurdle and then met with a setback. The sort of stuff he was showing me on the gallops means he could make it right to the very top over fences. He goes novice chasing and we’re really looking forward to that. He’s exciting.’

Quai De Bourbon

The Gigginstown-owned gelding ran a cracker to finish third at the Cheltenham Festival last season and fences beckon for him now.

Mullins said: ‘This chap looks really nice. He won three out of four for us last season and the only time he was beaten was in the Martin Pipe at Cheltenham. He was a real surprise package. I’m looking forward to getting him out over fences and he’ll hopefully develop into a nice staying novice chaser.’
