2.00 Haydock

A progressive stayer for Godolphin and Charlie Appleby, Bandinelli won his fourth race from his last five starts when winning by half a length at Kempton over 2m off a mark of 95 in March. Has only been raised 2lb for that effort and is a former course winner so he could improve again back on turf. James Doyle is in red hot form and that has to be a major positive.

2.35 Haydock

Mighty Ulysses made an impressive winning debut at Yarmouth last year and just lacks experience when putting in a tame effort at Epsom on his second start over 1m2f. Dropped back to 1m at Newmarket last time, he capitalised on the drop in class in a first time hood, putting the race to bed easily under hands and heels. Has a St James’s Palace Stakes entry so could be well ahead of his mark. He could be a monster.

3.30 York

Believe In Love didn’t seem to enjoy the Chester test last time and being drawn in 10 didn’t help either, but she could have too much for her rivals in this. She was beaten a short head in a French Group 1 last term and is a dual Group 3 scorer. If Roger Varian has her back to anywhere near her best, she should win this.
