‘Handiness is essential’ – Three front-runners to watch at Catterick on Tuesday

It’s a well known fact that there’s a significant pace bias at Catterick, in fact, the course map information on the Racing Post website states that ‘handiness is essential’. This suggests that you need to be looking out for horses who are likely to be up with the pace.

We’ve got you covered on that front and here are three front-runners to consider for their meeting on Tuesday. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.42 Catterick

Dreams Adozen finished second on her only previous start at Catterick and her fair record at Chester suggests sharp tracks suit. She was right up with the pace when winning off a 3lb lower mark in June and is likely to be prominent once again. Charlie Johnston’s filly only just failed to hold on when second at Chester last month and similar tactics could pay dividends.

2.12 Catterick

Sir Garfield led for the first couple of furlongs when showing a good attitude to score at Ayr last time out. The handicapper hasn’t overreacted and he should be bang in the mix once again, now on just a 2lb higher mark. John & Sean Quinn were back amongst the winners at Redcar on Monday and that perhaps bodes well for their runner here.

3.22 Catterick

Hour By Hour successfully made all the running to score easily in a better race at Hamilton earlier this month, despite racing too keenly in the early stages. A 6lb rise certainly doesn’t look unreasonable and this looks like a shrewd piece of placement. Iain Jardine’s four-year-old has won three of his last four starts and should be there or thereabouts once again.
