Greyhound Syndicate – Update 8

It was an excellent night on the 22nd of July, our first meetup of the greyhound syndicate at the track. Many thanks to all who came and hope that everyone enjoyed their night. Also a huge thank you to Crayford themselves for their help in getting both of our bitches out on the same card to give us something to cheer. Let’s look back at what has happened in the last week.

Droopys Nuka

Having won back to back starts, Nuka was put into a race with plenty of early pace on Saturday night. It didn’t look an easy task on paper, but she was on her game at the start again, turning in front of the field. The 3 started to make inroads on her down the back straight and once that hound slipped up her inside off the third bend, she was always going to be coming off worse in the battle. It was still an excellent second place finish, four grades higher than where she started, looking capable of winning at this level sooner rather than later. Early pace is King at Crayford and her boot from the traps is standing her in good stead. You can watch Droopys Nuka land her A5 on the 15th of July below.

Droopys Dazzle

Having improved her sectional every time, she missed the up on Saturday night, never able to get herself in a challenging position. She is a different hound when she gets on the bunny, something that we will be hoping that she does more when we get the chance to send her over 6 bends in the future. That plan is on the back burner for now as it appears that she has broken into season so she will be having 10/12 weeks off now before being prepared for an autumn campaign. A first season is important to the development of a bitch so she should come back stronger and ready to roll in mid-late October. There were lots of double bets landed on the 15th of July, as Dazzle strutted her stuff straight after Nuka. Watch her performance from trap 5 below.

Droopys Hyde

Hyde is ticking over fine as he recovers from his tumble. He is still a couple of weeks away from being ready to have a retrial, but we are hopeful that he is going to do plenty of growing up in this time off and come back a more mature hound. Syndicate members will enjoy getting to see all three of the dogs at the kennel open day on Sunday the 30th, giving them a walk, a few treats and enjoying a few treats of their own from the Kelva Kennels barbecue.
