The Galway Festival kicks off on Monday with some competitive handicap action. These races aren’t always the easiest to predict so Liam Bramall has selected three outsiders that could outrun their huge odds. We’ll be providing content across all seven days of the festival so make sure to stay tuned. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Hazran (40-1, Paddy Power) comfortably won a chase at Worcester two starts ago before struggling in a hotter race at Killarney last time. Connections will be looking to take advantage of the fact that his hurdles mark is 6lb lower than his chase one. Having finished second at Navan in March off 107, he should go well here off 1lb lower.
Lunar Power (20-1, Paddy Power) hasn’t been seen on the flat since easily winning a Leopardstown handicap by six lengths in October. He has been competitive in graded juvenile hurdles this winter and Spring so fitness is unlikely to be an issue. Should be a bigger and stronger horse now and looks interesting here as a 7lb claimer offsets the majority of his 12lb rise in the handicap.
Willesee (20-1, Paddy Power) is pretty unexposed in handicaps having only had one career handicap start. She finished second off her current mark of 85 at Ballinrobe two runs ago. Disappointed last time out but should be capable of bouncing back. The form of her maiden win at the Curragh last season worked out nicely. Hopefully there’s plenty more to come in handicaps.
