The Galway festival is always one of the highlights of the summer and the world-famous atmosphere combined with some excellent racing. It comes to an end on Sunday but we still have another seven races to look forward to, the best of which is the very valuable Ahonoora Handicap, which is run over 7f. British raider Wahraan has only had three starts over hurdles and he got off the mark in a Market Rasen maiden in May. Denied by a narrow margin when second over this trip on the Flat earlier this week, perhaps he can go one better now back over hurdles.
Fou De Toi showed potential on debut in France and has probably disappointed connections a little in four starts in Ireland. There were some positive signs when runner-up at Wexford last month and handicaps are likely to facilitate a significant amount of improvement from the five-year-old.
Blood Destiny was a Grade 3 winner as recently as February but having failed to win in three starts since, connections have dropped him back into handicap company. Paul Townend takes the ride and he could be well treated off a mark of 150, if returning to form on this occasion.
Aidan O’Brien doesn’t often target handicaps, so the fact that Dorset runs here is certainly interesting. His current mark of 102 looks very workable on the evidence of his best form, especially as he landed a big sales race and a Group 3 contest last term. Don’t rule out a big run, as he’s more than capable.
Iamimmaculate remains very lightly raced, especially in handicap company, and he got off the mark at Naas in September for previous connections. Narrowly denied on handicap debut next time, he’s likely to improve for his most recent run and there should be more to come in this sphere.
