There are lots of reasons to look forward to Gowran‘s excellent seven-race card on Thursday, with the valuable and prestigious Thyestes Chase being the highlight, as well as the Grade 2 Galmoy Hurdle. Another factor is that we’re set to see the debut of a very exciting horse.
A full-brother to the excellent Gaelic Warrior runs in the concluding bumper and he’s also trained by Willie Mullins. We’re going to take a closer look at the horse in question and assess the main dangers. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Our Trigger is probably the most eye-catching runner on the card, as a result of his pedigree. The son of Maxios cost €60,000 and is the seventh foal out of the mare Game Of Legs. Willie Mullins’ four-year-old faces four rivals and is likely to have plenty of supporters.
Expectations will be through the roof, as his illustrious sibling was a short head away from winning at the Cheltenham Festival on his debut for Mullins. Gaelic Warrior already has five Grade 1 victories to his name and if Our Trigger is half as good, he should be well up to winning this.
Willie Mullins is in full flow at the moment, operating at a strike-rate of 33 per cent in the last fortnight. Patrick Mullins takes the ride and he’s also in excellent recent form, riding six winners from his 11 rides in the last couple of weeks, and that combination has been proven successful many times over.
Gordon Elliott runs two here, one Hygge has had two starts in academy hurdles so it’s hard to know what to expect from him in a bumper. Fellow debutant Huntin Boots has a smart pedigree too and he looks dangerous with that in mind. Ballygorey Ruby and Infinity Success were well beaten on their debuts.
