We’re being treated to some excellent racing on Friday, with Group 1 action at Newmarket and the unofficial return of the jumps at Chepstow. There will be nine races shown live on ITV across the day and it’s interesting that Henry de Bromhead sends a rare runner to Chepstow. The day’s main event is the Fillies’ Mile, so we’ve picked out some key trends, as well as a couple of potentially overpriced outsiders. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Leading Irish trainer has only had two previous runners at Chepstow and he’ll be hoping it’ll be third time lucky, as he sends La Cote Fleurie over for the Persian War Novices’ Hurdle. She won a Limerick maiden hurdle in good style in May and followed up in a Kilbeggan Novice next time. Clearly she possesses some ability and it would be no surprise to see her go close, in this weak-looking Grade 2.
Don’t be afraid to side with the fancied runners in this race, as seven of the last renewals were won by the favourite. The biggest price winner over this period was 14/1, which bodes well for Musical Times.
Five of the last 10 renewals have been won by Aidan or Joseph O’Brien and the former has landed two of the last three renewals. Aidan runs Haven and Exceptionally, whilst Joseph is set to be represented by the experienced Dancing Destiny.
Eight out of the last 10 winners had won a group race prior and that only applies to Musical Times and Rogue Passion, who were both victorious in Group 2s when last seen.
Colin Keane has been booked for the ride on Rogue Jewel (28/1, Betfred), who finished second in a Listed race over 6f at Ripon last time out and shapes as if the drop back in trip will suit.
Aidan O’Brien has won this race seven times and Ryan Moore will ride Haven (14/1, bet365). She was a smooth winner of a Dundalk maiden last time out and the best is surely yet to come.
