Frankie Dettori missed the July Festival due to suspension but he’s back on Saturday and the farewell tour continues. Such is his popularity, he draws attention wherever he goes and he’s been missing for the last fortnight. The Italian is set to take two rides at Newbury so we’ve combined them into a 29-1 double. One of his rides is a previous Group 1 winner and looks particularly interesting in the feature race on the card. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Lezoo (5-1, bet365) is a very classy horse on her day. She won the the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on her final start as a juvenile. There were some good horses in behind that day, including the likes of subsequent Breeders’ Cup-winner Meditate. Things haven’t quite gone to plan for her so far this season, as she disappointed in the 1000 Guineas and Commonwealth Cup. The drop in grade should help here and she should find things easier in calmer waters. Likely to be a popular choice with Dettori on board, a return to form could well be on the cards.
Sweet Memories (4-1, bet365) is an interesting runner for John and Thady Gosden in a decent fillies’ novice. She took a while to get the hang of things on debut at Wolverhampton last season but ran on eye-catchingly to finish fourth. The Gosdens have given her plenty of time and we’re likely to see a much more professional horse on her first start as a three-year-old. This filly wasn’t cheap, she has a smart pedigree and expectations will be high.
