‘Don’t get stuck in behind’ – Four front-runners to follow at Catterick on Tuesday

Catterick hosts a six-race card on Tuesday and whilst the quality isn’t through the roof, it should be competitive. It’s vital that you don’t get stuck in behind at Catterick as there’s a pronounced bias for front-runners. We’ve got you covered with four runners across the card that have successfully forced the pace before and would be advantaged if doing so again. Doomsday made all the running when getting the better of a stablemate in a similar race at Musselburgh last week. Another similar effort here would surely put him in the mix and the five-year-old should be capable of following up. Liam Bailey’s gelding was a course and distance winner in handicap company back in 2022 and that bodes well for his chances.

3.25 Catterick

Max Of Stars was always prominent when a narrow second over 1m3f at Southwell in March and she’s yet to go this far on the Flat. Her consistent record over hurdles suggests that the step up in trip shouldn’t be a problem and she remains unexposed in this sphere.

Carlton and Co is another one who successfully made all when winning last time out. Michael & David Easterby’s mare showed a good attitude to hold on by half-a-length and the sharp track here will be to her liking. If going all out again here, the five-year-old could prove hard to catch.

5.10 Catterick

Dunnington Lad won from the front off a 1lb lower mark at Ripon earlier on in the season and he wasn’t for passing that day. He’s also a previous course and distance winner, having made all the running to win a claimer here in his juvenile days. There are a lot of out of form rivals in opposition and he has the running style needed to come out on top here.
