Cheltenham Gold Cup Day Outsiders: 66-1, 25-1 and 20-1 shots running on Friday 🏇🏻

Day four of the Cheltenham Festival is always bittersweet as it has some of the best races of the week but it also signifies the end of the week. This means after the day’s action we have to wait an entire year before the Festival returns. On the bright side, it affords us more opportunities to find outsiders that can outrun their prices. Here are three outsiders running on Friday that you might want to consider.

1.30 Cheltenham

If someone told you that a horse which is unbeaten in five hurdles starts which includes three Grade 2 victories was available at a big price you would think they were mad. Knight Salute has been Britain’s best juvenile hurdler by some way this season so it is absolutely baffling to see him available at 20-1. The Irish do look likely to win this race but he has to have a massive each-way chance at these prices.

2.10 Cheltenham

The Coral Cup on Wednesday showed the benefit of dropping a horse shy of graded level back into handicaps with Commander Of Fleet winning. The same connections run Felix Desjy in the County Hurdle who has exactly the same profile coming into the race. He had some smart form as a novice hurdler winning the Grade 1 over two miles at Aintree. His declining handicap mark is looking intriguing and he is capable of outrunning his big price.

2.50 Cheltenham

Classic Getaway is a huge stamp of a horse and is seemingly tricky to get fit. He wasn’t a cheap purchase at the cost of £570,000 so one would assume that big things are expected of this gelding. Stamina is unlikely to be an issue as he is a 2m4f bumper winner so the step up in trip should suit. I suspect that whatever he does over hurdles will just be a bonus as he is destined for chasing but he has the engine to outrun his price in what will be a gruelling test of stamina.
