Course form is always an important factor to consider when trying to pick out winners. Every track and every horse is different, so some perform better at certain courses than others. It’s therefore often an advantage if a horse has won at the track before so we’ve picked out three previous course winners running at Aintree on Friday. The three runners in question combine to form a juicy treble so good luck if you have a go. Check out our free tips page for selections in every race at Aintree this week.
Dancing City (5/1, bet365) was an impressive winner of the Sefton Novices’ Hurdle here last season, proving that Aintree is a much more suitable track, having finished third in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. Following up at the Punchestown Festival after that, clearly this horse thrives in the spring and he’s better than he showed when disappointing in the Brown Advisory last month.
Diva Luna (9/1, bet365) looked very smart when winning the Grade 2 mares’ bumper at this meeting in 2024 and we haven’t seen the best of her over hurdles. Ben Pauling’s mare got back on track with a decent third-place finish in the Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Cheltenham and whilst she will need to improve again, it would be unwise to rule out further progress here.
Jonbon (8/15, bet365) needs little introduction, other than the fact that he’s unbeaten in three starts at Aintree. All of those have come at Grade 1 level, including victory in this very race last year. Cheltenham might not be his track but Aintree is and he looks well set to extend that unblemished record. Nicky Henderson’s gelding is expected to bounce back to his very best and will be hard to beat if so.
