Big-race verdict: 25-1 & 20-1 tips for the ultra-competitive Cambridgeshire

Chichester has been all the rage for the Cambridgeshire having been backed from huge prices all week. Below, the myracing experts have locked horns to provide you with their expert opinion on the race. They have picked out 25-1 and 20-1 tips. Owen Goulding also thinks a 100-1 shot can run a huge race so be sure to give his Outsiders piece a read.

‘Gifted the dream rail draw again this year’

Majestic Dawn (20-1) has a love affair with this race, third in it in 2019 and made all to win here in 2020. The front runner has a much tougher task at the weights this year and is now 11lb higher but this will no doubt have been the target for connections. He has been gifted the dream rail draw again this year in gate 34 so should be able to blast out and dictate things on the stands side. Whether the handicapper has a grip on him now is the big question but he should hit the frame at good odds. – Adrian Wall

‘That run should have blown away the cobwebs’

It’s another devilishly competitive renewal of the race, but Indeed (25-1) is the one who has caught my eye for Sylvester Kirk and Ben Curtis. He was previously trained by Dominic Ffrench Davis, where he ran some great races at pattern level. Making his first start for Kirk on the back of a 428-day absence, he ran a cracker, finishing 6th in a strong York handicap off a pound higher. That run should have blown away the cobwebs and it’s fair to assume that he’ll take a big step forward. He’s yet to run a bad race at Newmarket in three visits and despite a low draw, he looks extremely overpriced off a rating that is surely within range. – Owen Goulding
