Welcome to my Cheltenham Festival 2022 tracker where I will be keeping a log of all of my ante-post bets. We are now well into November and after an exciting November Meeting at Cheltenham, we move onto Betfair Chase weekend.
I will have a selection for all of my followers every week and will only choose one horse per race. All of my horses will be found at the bottom of my weekly article. So let’s move on to my second selection which comes in arguably the most exciting race over fences of the week if they all turn up.
Nube Negra won the Shloer Chase in emphatic style last weekend and looks like a huge Champion Chase contender to my eyes. Dan Skelton is a trainer that wants to go right to the top and I think he will get there because he has the willpower to do it.
This horse was beaten a half-length by Put The Kettle On in the Champion Chase at The Festival back in March. However, Nube Negra made minced meat of that mare at the weekend, who to be fair was nowhere near her best.
He beat a very classy operator and a solid yardstick in Politologue comfortably and to still see 10-1 about for him for the showpiece event in March is highly surprising.
Skelton will surely put him away with March in mind now and if he is in the same vein of form, he could be hard to beat. The current favourite for the race, Shishkin, looks like a monster but he has to prove he can do it right at the top level yet.
Good spring ground will suit Nube Negra and I’ll be surprised if he isn’t at least half the price he is now on the day.
Supreme Novices’ Hurdle: My Mate Mozzie – 1pt win @ 14-1 (bet365, Paddy Power)
Champion Chase: Nube Negra – 1pt win @ 10-1 (SkyBet, BetVictor, Boylesports)
