Marine Nationale has been in my portfolio for the last couple of months and at much bigger prices but I still think the available 4-1 is too big. He should be favourite in my eyes. Facile Vega was bitterly disappointing at the Dublin Racing Festival and if the ground comes up good on the day, Barry Connell’s classy strong traveller should have his measure.
State Man has been really impressive and on any other year would be the superstar runner in the Champion Hurdle. Unfortunately for him, he has to try and beat a freak of nature in Constitution Hill. Nicky Henderson’s superstar hurdler still has to prove that he can do it right at the very top, but if he runs to anywhere near his figures he should win doing handstands.
Nicky Henderson stated Maries Rock could yet go for the Stayers’ Hurdle and if that happens, Honeysuckle could go off even money for this race. It is disappointing as a racing fan that connections are opting to not go and try defend her Champion Hurdle crown, but she could have far too much class for her rivals in the Mares’.
