‘A 1lb rise is very lenient’ – Charlie Sharp’s Goodwood Day 4 each-way plays

Glorious Goodwood continues on Friday and Charlie Sharp is back again with another four tips to follow. This time the selections are available at each-way prices and we’ve therefore combined them into a Lucky 15. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

1.20 Goodwood

Align The Stars (6/1, bet365) is back to retain his crown in the marathon trip at Glorious Goodwood. A winner off the mark of 99, he returns 1lb lower for a trainer that targets Glorious Goodwood. He ran a good race at Royal Ascot over the same trip, finishing less than three lengths off the winner. He was keen and probably overraced a bit, so that run can be upgraded. This mark is clearly a winnable one.

2.30 Goodwood

I tipped Charlie Johnston’s Arisaig (10/1, bet365) at 16/1 earlier this month and you can read the detailed tip here. In brief, she is a horse that loves Goodwood, winning at Glorious Goodwood last year and then finishing less than two lengths behind subsequent Royal Ascot winner Crimson Advocate when having no clear run at all. She then ran a blinder at Sandown last time out, cutting through the field to get up for second. The 1lb rise seems very lenient.

3.05 Goodwood

This 5f sprint is one of the quickest around and is set up for proper speed merchants. She’s Quality (15/2, bet365) possesses bags of speed, has electric pace out of the gates and her profile suggests Goodwood will be right up her street. She’s sure to relish the pure speed test that this Group 2 is likely to provide and should be there or thereabouts with that in mind.

4.20 Goodwood

Golden Brown (7/1, bet365) brings in some strong form as a maiden after three runs. He was beaten by Maximised on debut, who is set to run in the Richmond Stakes on Wednesday. The second on that day, Time To Turn, then went on to win the Listed Pat Eddery Stakes. He is clearly a progressive and improving horse, with some very hot form lines, who shouldn’t be a maiden for much longer.
