We have had a great spell of weather so the ground at both Newmarket Racecourse is forecasted to be good to firm this weekend. ITV Racing action gets under way there at 2.15pm on Saturday and Adrian Wall has found three horses that should all relish the fast conditions. Please note that the ground can change rapidly so be sure to check that the ground is still fast come post time before you place your bets.
Gale Force Maya has won six times on ground that was described as good to firm or firm, so rattling conditions will be right up her street in the 6f Listed contest. She was a hugely progressive sprinter last year, winning five times including Listed contests at York and Ayr. She has won three times fresh so fitness won’t be an issue, and this course and distance winner holds very good strong claims.
Twilight Calls won a handicap over this course and distance on good to firm ground in the summer of 2021, and finished second in the Group 1 King’s Stand last term on fast ground. He clearly has a liking for a sound surface. He will find this easier than his latest assignment.
Auguste Rodin is yet to encounter fast ground, but Aidan O’Brien has gone on record many times stating that he will improve massively for it and we have to believe the master of Ballydoyle as he certainly never minces his words. He was turned over on debut but has looked a monster in the making since, running out an easy winner of the Group 1 Futurity at Doncaster in October. Saxon Warrior and Magna Grecia have completed the Futurity and 2000 Guineas double for the yard in recent years and Ryan Moore has picked him over Little Big Bear.
