500-1 treble: Three horses that will love the heavy ground at Catterick on Tuesday ☔

Conditions are set to be very testing at Catterick on Tuesday and this won’t suit every horse. We’ve picked out three horses that have won on heavy and seem to have a general preference for cut in the ground. These three horses combine into a juicy treble for you to consider. You can check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

3.22 Catterick

Sugarpiehoneybunch (11-1, bet365) has won two races during her career, both on soft and heavy ground. That includes victory here over 1m4f on heavy back in April. There are only two horses in this race to have won on this going, which should give her a significant advantage. She needs to prove her stamina for the trip but she’s down to a mark which is just 2lb higher than her last winning one.

3.52 Catterick

Russco (14-1, bet365) was fourth here over 7f last time out and shaped like the return to 6f would suit in these conditions. Winless since September 2021, he does however have a 50 per cent strike-rate on both soft and heavy. The handicapper has responded appropriately to his losing streak and he could be of interest, now down to a mark of 65.

4.24 Catterick

John Kirkup (5-1, bet365) is a three-time winner on heavy and has only only failed to finish in the first three twice in seven starts. He was a narrow winner at Redcar last time and the handicapper has responded with a 3lb rise. David Thompson’s charge was a close second off this mark at Carlisle in July and he should run his race once again.
