Two runners for the myracing greyhound syndicate at Crayford this afternoon, starting with Meenagh Mourinho in an A2. Our greyhound tips will be from the south coast tonight at Hove but before then, let’s break down the task that faces Jose.
Beaming Passion – Only in A8 as recently as the 24th of April, finding her trapping boots and flying up the grading ladder. This is by a long way the toughest field she has faced so she’ll need to get round clean and hope for trouble behind with a 23.77 best.
Wicky Mary – Youngster was A1 earlier in the year, though she has struggled to get close to the 23.54 she produced when winning A4. She doesn’t have the early boot to lead the 1 to the bend so she needs a big slice of luck if she is going to play a prominent role.
Monagea Sam – 0/9 at this level but he was still sent off favourite when behind Jose on the 16th of June. He has the odd smash break in his locker but the percentage call has to be to oppose at this level.
Pepesforone – Twice an A3 winner in his last three runs, he has a pair of wins in this grade from fifteen attempts. A 23.60 hound at his best, he is inconsistent at lid rise but with little early in 2 and 3, he may well be prominent early from this slot.
Petes Boy – Has taken on Jose in two of his three starts here, the score level so far. Has some decent early but he has not managed to get close to his 23.42 trial time under race conditions so far. Dangerous if he comes away in his best fashion.
Meenagh Mourinho – Jose will appreciate having the stripes on his back once more, an excellent strike rate from this slot, including in this grade as recently as the 16th of June. A lot of A3 winners coming up here so if he can lead the 5 up, he has a strong chance.
As is so often the case at Crayford, so much here will depend on the run to the bend. When Jose is on his game, there are few at the track who can live with his brute early. The 5 has plenty of pace so our boy will need to be on his toes at lid rise but this isn’t a strong race for the grade with plenty of upgraded runners. If he has his trapping boots on, Jose stands an excellent chance from his favoured striped jacket.
