Charlie Johnston has been doing particularly well at Ayr so far this season. The Johnston’s have never had a reputation for having particularly high strike-rates. It could therefore be significant that he currently has a 33 per cent strike-rate at Ayr thus far.
The Yorkshire-based trainer is set to send three runners to Scotland on Monday and they form a 242-1 treble. Joe Fanning is the top jockey at Ayr so far this season and he’s set to take the ride on all three. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Individualism (10-3, bet365) is from a smart family and one that the Johnston family know well. He’s a half-brother to Gold Cup-winner Subjectivist and the very useful Sir Ron Priestly. This suggests he’s likely to want plenty further in time but the fact that he’s by Too Darn Hot suggests this colt could possess a bit more pace than his half-siblings.
Artisan Dancer (14-1, bet365) hasn’t been in the best of form lately and was bitterly disappointing in his last two starts. His narrow second on handicap debut at Southwell in March would indicate that he’s capable of much better than that. A return to that sort of form would put this horse bang in the mix here and we should see more from him sooner rather than later.
La Pulga (11-4, William Hill) won with his head in his chest over this trip at Hamilton last month. The drop down to 1m4f perhaps didn’t suit in two subsequent starts but he was just denied at Pontefract on his penultimate start. With that in mind, the step back up in trip could facilitate a return to the winners’ enclosure.
