“16-1 could be huge” – myracing’s Wednesday NAP could win the 1000 Guineas

The ultra exciting Saffron Beach is currently a general 16-1 chance for the QIPCO 1000 Guineas. She will put her Classic hopes on the line in Wednesday’s Lanwades Stud Nell Gwyn Stakes at the Newmarket Craven Meeting.

Aidan O’Brien’s Santa Barbara currently dominates the ante-post betting and was very well backed in the past two weeks. However, one could argue that if Jane Chapple-Hyam’s runner was with a top trainer, she would be much shorter.

Saffron Beach won both of her two starts last season, culminating in landing the Group Three Oh So Sharp Stakes.

An impressive winner on her debut here, she followed up on softer ground despite not looking in love with it. She will appreciate being back on a sound surface here and looks the type to do better as a three-year-old.

A couple of others have solid juvenile form in here but it would be no surprise to see the pick really take off in 2021 with her breeding suggesting that that is the case. She is capable of laying down a marker for the 1000 Guineas here.

16-1 could be huge

If Saffron Beach does go on to score and land our NAP of the Day on Wednesday, the 16-1 for the Guineas will look huge. Now is the time to back her if you do think she can go on to win the Classic in a few week’s time.

She has pleased her trainer and owners with her progress during the winter and is reportedly working very well. The recent cold can have an adverse effect on the females at this time of year so that would be the only slight concern but all of the runners in the field have that worry.
