It’s getting very expensive just to get horses to the races these days, as the costs continue to rise. With this in mind, you have to take note when horses are sent on significant journeys. We’ve picked out three southern raiders that are heading to Newcastle on Tuesday, which have been sent on 570 or 500-mile round trips and combined them into a treble.
Connections won’t want to come home empty-handed and these horses could be worth looking out for. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Oliver Show (8-1, Paddy Power) was disappointing on debut for this yard at Chelmsford last time out. He may have needed the run after a break and the 7f trip was probably unsuitable. Returning to a mile here, that should be beneficial on the evidence of his comfortable victory at Kempton back in June. The handicapper has dropped him 1lb since that latest effort and he’s definitely capable of better.
Princess Alice (11-4, Paddy Power) is a thrice-raced maiden in the hands of Kevin Philippart De Foy and she has shown enough so far to suggest she’s capable of winning races. The switch to handicaps should suit and there’s plenty of scope for progress, off an opening mark of 70.
Absolute Star (11-4, Paddy Power) makes her debut for Archie Watson here and her pedigree suggests she should be capable of winning races. Watson has a 33 per cent strike-rate at Newcastle in 2024 and this isn’t the deepest of maidens. His sole representative at the track, it would be no surprise to see her run a massive race.
