Saturday’s Lucky 15 landed three winners out of four, meaning that the advised £15 stake returned a whopping £297.67. We weren’t done there however as our Nap of the day on Sunday obliged at odds of 11/1. Shergar Cup day was a busy one for ITV, with 10 races being televised across the afternoon. We put four of our strongest selections into a Lucky 15, which yielded winners at 6/1, 5/1 and 10/3.
Old Cock was the first to oblige and the result never really looked in doubt. Edward Bethell’s three-year-old travelled powerfully throughout and kept on well to score by a length-and-a-quarter.
Insanity followed up shortly after and Alan King’s gelding gamely held off the challenge of 20/1 shot Dream Harder to score by a head.
New Image was fancied to appreciate the step up to a mile and so it proved as he needed every yard of the trip to pass Yantarni. He would have been an unlucky loser as he had to wait for racing room but fortunately the gap arrived just in time.
Oosterpark was expected to improve significantly on handicap debut and that proved to be the case. Advised at odds of 9/1, the son of Mayson obliged with ease at 11/1 and was always in control. He made all the running and was a very impressive winner in the end.
Arctic Mountain absolutely bolted up upon returning to 1m2f at Lingfield in June and is up 11lb as a result. You can put a line through his latest effort as the saddle slipped and his race was over after that. The stiff 1m1f here is likely to suit and he’s entitled to go close once again.
