It was great to see Droopys Nuka back in action last Tuesday, she continues to build towards full fitness this afternoon at Crayford. There are some excellent opens at Poole and Sheffield tonight, they will form our greyhound tips, looking to follow up on Monday’s 50/1 Mega Acca winner!
Easy Jane – Debutante has taken big strides forward with each trial. Her dam was a decent racer in Ireland, she’s bred to be far better than this grade in due course. Barry O’Sullivan brings them along slowly so with a clear run, she’s going to go close.
Drive On Rascal – One place in front of Nuka last week, backed into favouritism. He is another who has shown progression in his trials and should do better over further in time. Will be a nice 380m dog first though but has to clear an improver in 1.
Bill the Ranger – Impressive winner in an A8 last Tuesday, her first run since November. Entitled to strip fitter for that now, a repeat of that time would see her a leading contender. Won’t get on the bunny so easily today though.
Blind Justice – Another young pup in here, making her debut last week when behind both Nuka and the 2. She has shown ability in Ireland but lacked consistency so will need to be on one of her ping the lids days if she is to win this.
Ferryforth Alice – Bettered her trial sectionals last week to get round in front and win an A8 on her debut. She was three lengths behind Drive On Rascal when trialling in so has work to do to reverse that form but remains open to much better.
Droopys Nuka – Despite only being a December ’15 whelp, Nuka is the most experienced hound in the field by a distance. This will be her twenty-eighth start, the rest of the field have only had twenty-two combined. She may well be able to put that experience to good use from her ideal draw if she has her trapping boots on.
A lot of unexposed pups in opposition of Nuka this afternoon, the majority will be better than this level in due course. Nuka has of course been sent off favourite for a race 3 grades higher so she has a touch of class at this level. She is well capable of a smash break and in a field of pups, she may well turn in front. Whether she is close enough to full fitness to hold them off, we’ll know by 1.51!
