1.31pm Crayford Race Preview 21/08/2018

Meenagh Mourinho

An action packed Tuesday sees two of our myracing.com Syndicate Greyhounds take centre stage at Crayford. First up is our young exciting pup Jacobs Fire who is looking to make her mark over 6 bends.

Today’s preview comes from one of our syndicate managers, David Mitchell.

Today’s Syndicate Runner

Trap 4 Jacobs Fire – She probably ran her worst race to date last week when breaking well but running into a bit of trouble at the first and second bend. We’re going to draw a line through that effort and put it down to her inexperience. She’s classy on her day and no doubt still learning the ropes but when the penny drops she’ll really go through the gears. Will it be today, let’s hope so.

Today’s Opponents

Trap 1 Mystical Sparkey – A dog for all disciplines, literally. He’s recently won a 380m A6 race and six days later a H2 hurdle. That is a rare occurrence in our sport and this step up in trip might just find him out. This extended trip isn’t going to play to his advantage and for him to land a blow here he’s going to need a few of these to under-perform.

Trap 2 Galtee Else – Has gone off a short-priced favourite on a number of occasions lately and no doubt backers will be on once again. She’s more than capable when everything falls right but as of late she’s really struggled to get a clear run. A lack of early pace would be a worry and drawn slightly off the rail is also a negative. For her to truly get going she’s going to need a much better break and for us until we see that we’ll pass over.

Trap 3 Classical Girl – Struggled over 4 bends and connections were quick to step her up in trip. This decision has proved fruitful with a handful of victories in no time at all. She has some nice early and she gets this trip well. A reproduction of her effort at the start of August would be enough to take this and she’ll surely go off the worthy favourite today.

Trap 5 Cronody Rocket – Not exactly bred for this job being out of speedy sire Zero Ten. She’s really struggled recently to find any sort of form. Her best effort arguably came around 11 days ago but even on that she would need to improve. Inconsistent at the boxes and not seeing the trip out has cost her dearly. For her to get involved she’d need a career best and until we see something better we’ll be avoiding.

Trap 6 Lisnakill Andy – Bred to be a nice dog and has shown signs over the 4 bend trip here. Will have to deal with a couple of nice pups here and being a Jun 15 his best days are probably behind him. He’ll need a huge turn in form to get going here but from a wide draw he might be able to cut this field up. For us he’s not a likely winner but at a price he could run a nice race.

We have the full racecard for this and the rest of Crayford today. Let’s hope Jacob’s Fire gets us off to flyer before the enigmatic Droopys Hyde hits the track a little later on.
