IN SUMMARY: This should be a match between the 2017 Champion Chase winner Special Tiara and the 2017 Tingle Creek winner POLITOLOGUE. Comfortable preference is for the latter who won this year’s renewal of Sandown’s premier race in great style. He is progressive and jumps beautifully, so he can account for the aforementioned ten year old who will take them along, but ultimately should be out-classed when they turn for home.

1 POLITOLOGUE – Progressive six year old who posted a career best when winning the Tingle Creek on his latest start, holding off a late surge by Fox Norton. That form sets the standard and he’s been hugely progressive throughout his career, so he should be very tough to beat.

2 SPECIAL TIARA – Likeable ten year old who won this race back in 2014, running well on his return in the Shloer Chase. That was considerably better than previous reappearance runs and even at his age, he holds leading claims if matching his best form.

3 VANITEUX – Looked potentially smart earlier in his career but things have gone backwards very quickly, well beaten on all his runs for David Pipe. He never threatened when last in the Peterborough on his latest start and looks booked for another struggle in this company.

4 FOREST BIHAN – Useful at his best but he does have something to prove in this company, pulled up behind Politologue in the Haldon Gold Cup on his latest start. He never travelled that day and had no real excuses. Looks vulnerable to better horses in this grade.
