Churchill Stakes tips for Saturday’s Listed race. There is some great all weather action from Lingfield on Saturday and this Listed contest is no exception. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: Ayrad needs further to show his best in a race of this nature and ready preference is for VICTORY BOND, who was always holding Boynton when winning a Conditions Stakes at Chelmsford in October. He remains with potential for better as a lightly raced four year old and it’s hard to see him getting beaten now that he’s been given a short break.
AYRAD – Dual Listed winner for Roger Charlton whose optimum trip is 1m 4f, given a soft lead at Salisbury two starts ago over this distance which allowed him to dictate and win easily. That said, he was well held at Newbury when last seen and he looks vulnerable on all weather debut at this distance, especially from such a poor draw.
BATTALION – Course and distance Listed winner back in December for Jamie Osbourne who has something to prove after two poor performances the last twice, well beaten over course and distance when last seen. He returns from 218 days off the track with plenty to prove and others are preferred on balance.
MASTER THE WORLD – Smart handicapper for David Elsworth who was a close third in this race last year but in a subsequent race he was well-held by Battalion. He’s never quite cut it outside of handicap company and he is vulnerable upped in class after a poor run last time out.
PETITE JACK – Won five of his six starts at this track when with the Neil King yard, winning two starts ago at Chelmsford for his new stable (Archie Watson). He remains with potential but this is his first attempt in pattern company and he has something to find with many of these.
SANDS CHORUS – Front-runner who was put in his place behind Boynton at Newmarket on his latest start, weakening tamely when asked. He faces another difficult task here and although he’s likely to take them along early, he shouldn’t be good enough to stay there.
VICTORY BOND – Made a successful all weather debut on his latest start when holding Boynton at Chelmsford last month. He’s unexposed in this sphere and remains lightly raced, with a step into Listed company the right move. He shouldn’t be for catching here under James Doyle.
BOYNTON – Tried hard but never looked likely to get past Victory Bond at Chelmsford two starts ago before weakening close home into third at Newmarket earlier this month. A similar performance gives him each way claims as he still remains with potential, but he shouldn’t be able to reverse terms with Victory Bond.
IN THE LOPE – French raider for the Brandt yard who was last seen winning a Handicap at Chantilly in October, with the form of that race not looking anything special. He is progressive, but this is a big step up in class and he doesn’t look good enough to take this.
MIA TESORO – Lowest rated horse in the contest for Charlie Fellowes who was very much flattered to finish fourth in a Listed contest over course and distance on her latest start. This is a tougher race and she can be opposed as none of her form suggests she can take a race of this nature.
