Buck House Novice Chase tips for Thursday’s Grade 3 race. Although only five go to post, this promises to be an exciting Grade 3 contest with Death Duty making his second start over fences. Read on for our free betting tips, predictions and analysis.
IN SUMMARY: It’s hard to get away from DEATH DUTY who was a Grade 1 winner over hurdles and won easily on chasing debut, despite some errors. He’ll clearly come on for that run and, with the size of his engine, he won’t have a problem dropping back in trip. The main danger is Woodland Opera who was really improving over fences towards the end of the season and will be pushing the selection hard.
1 A RATED – Arrives here on a hat-trick for Liam Kenny, winning a Novice Chase at Wexford by half a length. He now faces a much tougher task and has to concede weight to better horses. Will not be good enough here.
2 DEATH DUTY – Grade 1 winner over hurdles for Gordon Elliott who won on chasing debut at Tipperary earlier this month, clearly in need of the experience. He won easily in the end and, considering the size of his engine, he should have no problem in dispatching this field.
3 THREE WISE MEN – Hasn’t been improving over fences for Henry De Bromhead, winning two starts ago at Galway before a well beaten second to an odds-on rival. Things get even tougher here and he should come up short.
4 WOODLAND OPERA – Won twice over fences last season for Jessie Harrington, including a Grade A race ahead of Arbre De Vie and Balko Des Flos. He’s a classy individual and is still unexposed, with his ability to go well fresh proven. Should put up a strong showing under Robbie Power.
5 TOUT EST PERMIS – Won on chasing debut for Mouse Morris, keeping on well to draw clear on the run-in. He should improve from that seasonal debut and is thoroughly unexposed, however sizeable improvement is needed here. Not one to underestimate, though.
