6.50pm Wolverhampton Tips & Betting Preview 08/04/2017

This is an interesting maiden over 6 furlongs, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: There are some nice types in this and a token vote goes to TISA RIVER at a big price. She was an expensive yearling and has obviously had some issues having been sold on for much less as a 2yo. Milton Bradley may have been able to fix whatever issues she’s had and is worth a chance in this against Historic Event who could turn out to be a smart prospect in time. Exquisite Ruby makes most appeal of the others.

1 EXQUISITE RUBY – Speedily bred (daughter of Exceed And Excel) and a half-sister to the once-115 rated sprinter Maarek. She made a nice introduction to racing at Wolverhampton over C&D back in January and she should come on a lot for that experience. She’s got a nice position in stall 5 today and there should be a lot more to come from her in this for a yard with a decent 16% strike rate here. Respected.

2 HISTORIC EVENT – 120,000GNS purchase as a yearling and she’s a daughter of Invincible Spirit out of a once-raced Argentinian mare. The yard have a stunning strike rate here at Wolverhampton (37%) with 37 winners from 99 runners. They have been in flying form of late with 7 winners from their last 13 runners and this 3yo filly is likely to be extremely popular in this. Interesting to see how she shapes on debut.

3 MISS PATIENCE – 38,000GNS yearling out of an un-raced mare and she’s a daughter of Excelebration. He’s been a below average sire to date but his progeny may do better with age and it’ll be interesting to see how much she has progressed following an 8-length defeat in a Class 4 maiden at Newmarket. Better to come here with progress expected, others preferred though.

4 PAQUITA BAILARINA – £3,500 yearling and she’s been well-held in three starts to date. She showed improvement on her final start of last year in a Class 6 maiden at Chelmsford but that was weak contest and she’s likely to find a few too good here. An initial rating of 56 gives her plenty to do with some of these and others are much more likely. Stall 7 makes life difficult.

5 PLAY WITH ME – Related to a few winners over this trip and further and she’s been very well-beaten in two starts to date. They both came earlier this year and she finished fourth of six on her last start, beaten 14 1/2 lengths. She’ll do better once entered into handicaps and others make more appeal given she’s drawn in the car park in stall 8 today.

6 QATARI ROYALS – Dam was a 6-race maiden rated just 53 at the end of her short career and she’s by Kodiac who has a decent record with his progeny here. She ran with credit on her only start at Kempton when running slightly green and she showed a good attitude to stay on for third. She’ll come on a lot for that with an average draw in stall 6. One to keep a close eye on in the betting.

7 SWEET AMAZEMENT – Once-raced filly out of a relatively useful mare who managed to achieve official ratings in the 70’s. She was very well-beaten on debut behind some okay types and progression should ensue although she has been off the track since last June. She steps up in trip here and she’ll do better in handicaps for a yard with just an 8% strike rate at Wolverhampton.

8 TISA RIVER – 92,000 Euro purchase as a yearling and she was sold on for just £3,000 as a 2yo last November. She’s evidently had some serious issues but she does still have a decent pedigree and she could be slightly overpriced here at Wolverhampton. Franny Norton is a positive jockey booking for this yard and she has a good draw in stall 4. Interesting.
