Only 6 line up for the 5th race on Haydock’s Saturday card but it is a competitive enough Listed event. Read our full race preview and betting tips below.
IN SUMMARY: Plenty of winning form is being carried into this race but none more impressive than the selection’s, Colin’s Sister. She romped home by 11 lengths on soft ground last time out and there still looks to be plenty more to come from her. She is more than capable of making a winning start at this higher level having already beaten Atlanta Ablaze and Tearsofclewbay in races previously. The latter of them two is likely to be not too far away and My Khaleesi will be a threat with a clear round.
1 ATLANTA ABLAZE – Showed some early promise in a pair of bumpers at the start of her career before having a crack at Listed level. She struggled in that race (going off at 100/1) and today’s selection Colin’s Sister finished in 2nd that day so she has plenty to find with her. The mare finished 3rd last time out, but again that was behind Colin’s Sister and there isn’t much suggest she can reverse that form today.
2 COLIN’S SISTER – Was a very ready winner when last seen at Warwick, made a few minor jumping errors but still went on win by 11 lengths. Has the best form on offer in the race, one of the standouts being when she finished 2nd at Sandown in a Listed bumper at Sandown, beating 2 of her rivals today in the process (Atlanta Ablaze and Tearsofclewbay). Showed in that race and with her win last time that the forecast Soft ground will be something she relishes, the one to beat.
3 KALANITI – Has 3 career wins from 7 races thus far, winning her last 2. Has only raced around 2 miles however and the step up another 2 furlongs isn’t certain to bring out more improvement judging on how them races were won. Has tougher competition to deal with this time around but is respected nonetheless.
4 MS PARFOIS – Had a tricky task on hurdling debut having being thrown into Listed company, and finished a distant 4th of 6 that day. Won a 3 mile pointer on her first ever race so that shows she has plenty of stamina for the step up to today’s trip. The bare form of her rules races though don’t offer the standard of her rivals and is likely best watched.
5 MY KHALEESI – Dead heated for a Listed bumper win at Cheltenham last month and that puts her firmly into contention. Unseated rider on her hurdles debut at Fontwell earlier this month however, that coming at the 2nd flight so it’s hard to take much from that run. If getting round this time she is a contender.
6 TEARSOFCLEWBAY – Won her first 2 starts (bumpers) and has a good rules race record of 3 wins from 5 so far. Got the job done relatively easily when landing the odds on hurdles debut winning by just over 3 lengths. Could still have plenty of improvement in her but she finished just behind Colin’s Sister at Sandown back in March in which was a very creditable effort, but we feel she might find her too good again. Should be in the frame.
myracing Forecast Prices: Colin’s Sister 6/4, My Khaleesi 9/4, Tearsofclewbay 6/1, Kalaniti 7/1, Atlanta Ablaze 12/1, Ms Parfois 16/1
