Irish trainer sends one runner to Ayr

Ado McGuinness is a very shrewd handler and will send just one runner across the Irish Sea to Ayr on Monday in the 6f handicap (3.30). The horse in question is the 5yo Clonmacash. He is an all-weather specialist having won twice at Dundalk this year and arrives in good nick, on latest when finishing third over just shy of 7f at Limerick nine days ago. He runs off a nice mark and should be involved in the finish.

Ruth Carr worth watching at Beverley

Trainer Ruth Carr has won the extended 7f handicap (8.00) twice in the last three years and a former winner of the contest, King Sharja must have strong credentials. The 2023 winner is a three-time C&D winner, and has been in good nick this tern overall until an unusual poor run over C&D when last seen but the topweight is a massive player if he can bounce back.

Willie Mullins sends one runner to Cartmel

Champion trainer Willie Mullins has never saddled a runner at Cartmel but that’s set to change on Monday as the yard’s sole representative is Speed For Fun in the 2m1f maiden hurdle (1.42). Son Patrick will ride this former Flat winner at Compiegne who changed hands for 40,000 and was in control of the race on stable debut when falling at the last over 2m4f at Listowel in May. He has been found a very nice contest to make amends in and they wouldn’t be travelling for the fun of it, that’s for sure.
