‘Three miles won’t be a problem’ – Liam’s 16/1 ante-post Ladbrokes Trophy tip

3.35 Kempton (Saturday)

Lookaway (16/1, bet365) was a really competitive novice hurdler a couple of seasons ago and he won a Grade 2 event at Cheltenham in October 2023. Runner-up in the Challow a couple of starts later, he shaped like a future stayer that day so three miles won’t be a problem.

Neil King’s gelding got off the mark over fences at the first time of asking when scoring at Uttoxeter in 2024 and having finished third in a Grade 2 next time, he wasn’t seen again over fences until December. He returned to winning ways in good style here last time out and showed no signs of stopping.

That performance came over an extended 2m4f and the form looks pretty solid, as the well beaten third went on to win at Musselburgh on his next start. It’s very difficult to argue with a 4lb rise off the back of that and there could be more to come now trying three miles for the first time under rules.

A winner over three miles on his only point-to-point start, it would be unwise to rule out a big run and 16/1 looks like a cracking each-way price.
