‘They are unstoppable’ – This Murphy/Bowen Cheltenham double could be the play

Cheltenham is back! The Showcase Meeting kicks off on Friday and we have seven excellent races to sink our teeth into. Olly Murphy and Sean Bowen are in unstoppable form at the moment, with the pair having two four-timers in the last couple of days. 1.50 Cheltenham

Alnilam (4/1, bet365) doesn’t have a great deal to find according to the ratings and if he can progress over fences, he has every chance. Murphy’s gelding produced a thoroughly professional performance to win on his first start over fences at Uttoxeter recently.

He got the better of Country Mile by three-and-a-half lengths and jumped very well on the whole. Similarly positive tactics could be employed once again, having made all the running last time, and it’s difficult to see him not being in the mix here.

3.00 Cheltenham

Sir Galahad (8/1, bet365) completed a hat-trick of successes in maiden and novice company in the spring and two of those came by very wide margins. Making a winning start to life in handicaps next time, he won a Class 4 at Worcester comfortably the following month.

Two defeats then followed in higher grades but he still ran well on both occasions and is now the highest rated runner in the field. Admittedly he could be vulnerable to a totally unexposed novice but with both trainer and jockey in such good form, you wouldn’t want to rule him out.
