We have plenty of good racing action to look forward to on Friday with six Flat meetings and one over obstacles in Ireland at Tramore. There’s always something interesting happening at Epsom Downs and on Friday a Qatari jockey will ride a horse for the first time in Britain for Wathnan Racing!
Let’s take a look at the rider and horse in more detail below and remember you can find all of today’s free horse racing tips on the website.
The rider in question is Qatari rider Faleh Bughenaim who is retained by Al Shaqab Racing but will sport the Wathnan Racing silks aboard Hamad Al Jehani’s Solar Aclaim in the 6f handicap.
Bughenaim used to ride in endurance races in the past, which are races over 50 to 100 miles in one day across all sorts of terrain. A few years ago he left that behind and now rides in races across the Middle East and Europe and can often be seen riding in Arabian-bred races in France and Belgium.
Solar Aclaim finished tailed off last at Kempton when last seen so has plenty to prove, and his last victory came in a 5f Windsor novice last October in testing conditions after winning on debut at Salisbury prior to that when trained by Roger Teal.
The son of Aclaim has found life tough for his new yard, but he ran a couple of nice races in the Middle East at the start of the year. Nonetheless, he has been beaten out of sight on turf the last twice in Britain and has an awful lot to prove.
