2.20 Ascot
Hamad Al Jehani had his first British winner of the year at Newcastle at the end of June and Beshtani (22/1) can put his Royal Ascot blip behind him and get back on track. He was sent off a 13/2 chance for the Royal Hunt Cup but never landed a blow, however he was only beaten a nose prior to that at Epsom on soft ground and the return to easier conditions might be in his favour. He’s far too big a price to ignore.
2.50 Newmarket
Andrew Balding’s Celtic Warrior (14/1) won at Kempton in April and arrives here off the back of an eyecatching second in a handicap at Goodwood over a mile last month. The handicapper has responded with a 2lb hike in the weights but Silvestre De Sousa is a top jockey booking and he shouldn’t be such a large price.
