1.10 Punchestown

Willie Mullins won the opening maiden hurdle the last two years with Kilcruit and Diverge, so it would be no surprise to see Anotherway go off favourite. However, he has never raced on soft ground, even in France, and that leaves the race open for Catena Zapata. The gelding was sixth of 25 behind Caldwell Potter on heavy ground at Navan last month which is strong form.

1.40 Punchestown

Timeless Piece was strong in the betting when scoring at Down Royal on heavy ground on handicap hurdle debut last week and she should be able to follow up for trainer Gordon Elliott. She dotted up on the day and a 12lb rise in the weights might not prevent her from following up in what looks like a winnable race.

2.10 Punchestown

Owned by JP McManus and trained by in form Gavin Cromwell, Bioluminescence has run well twice on heavy ground already and looks a solid bet in the 2m4f maiden hurdle. Second in a 2m3f Limerick bumper on debut, she looked in need of this step up in trip when staying on into second at Navan over 2m in November. Now upped in trip, she can get off the mark at the third attempt.
