3.35 Ayr (Saturday)

Your Own Story has been progressive of late and has had just seven starts over fences to date. He was an impressive winner over 3m7f at Wetherby last month and that effort almost guarantees his stamina for this trip, which is just shy of four miles. Winning comfortably that day, it was a performance which indicated that there’s plenty more to come. It seems likely that he’ll carry a lovely light weight if he manages to get in and there should be plenty of entries who ran at Aintree to come out.

It has to be said that he’s been running in much lower grade races than this and he hasn’t been a prolific winner. Obviously he will need to find significant improvement to feature here. Lucinda Russell is one of the finest trainers of staying handicap chasers around. She’s a patient trainer who is excellent at getting these types of horses to find improvement on the big days.

After the Lucinda Russell team’s huge success at Aintree, confidence must be sky-high and you wouldn’t want to rule out the possibility of her completing the big race double.
