4 Saturday Must Have Betting Pointers + 486/1 Acca!

Boitron winning the Denford Stakes at Newbury under Silvestre De Sousa

We’re less than a week away from the Ebor Festival at York, but we’re certainly not short of action this weekend! Nine meetings across the UK and Ireland on Saturday which includes seven races for our ITV Racing Tips from three different tracks.

There is also the unique race of the Grey Horse Handicap at Newmarket, which is exactly what it says in the title, a race in which only grey horses can run!

ITV Best Bet

Our best bet on the televised action comes in the Denford Stakes at Newbury where we’re going for Richard Hannon to train back to back winners, having saddled last years victor, Boitron. This time around, Sun Power looks the one to be on.

He got off the mark at the second time of asking before outrunning his huge odds of 33/1 to finish fourth in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot. Building on that effort, he was a narrow second in Listed company when last seen, just getting denied in the dying strides by Al Dabaran. Having considerably improved with every run so far, if he does so again he should take her fair bit of pegging back.

Outsider to Watch

The Great St Wilfrid is the big handicap of the day and Richenza looks set to go well having been given a break since having a couple of quick runs in June.

She obviously has a bit of class as she was third in Listed company when last seen and filled the same spot in equal class back in September last year, both on ground with plenty of give in it, so recent weather conditions will have been welcomed by her connections.

Winning her last handicap by over a length, she’s a filly who hasn’t reached her peak yet.

Big Trainers, Big Strike Rate – 486/1* Acca

Both William Haggas and John Gosden are at the top of their games at the moment and when talking about recent form, they’re riding the crest of a wave. The past two weeks have been extremely successful.

  • William Haggas – 18 Winners, 41% Strike Rate
  • John Gosden – 13 Winners, 33% Strike Rate

Both trainers have a pair of runners today which could see their exceptional form continue if getting their heads in front.

One Trick Jockey

In his short time since coming over from Hong Kong, Vincent Ho has certainly made his mark in the jockey ranks. Just 19 rides have yielded 5 wins (26%) with a further 4 places (47%) with a profit of £7.25 to level stakes, which includes a win at the Shergar Cup last weekend as part of the winning Rest Of The World team.

He goes to Newmarket for just one ride, which has to be of interest given his impressive stats so far in this country.
