Flemington Guide

Tips for Flemington Races

Situated in Melbourne, Victoria in Australia, Flemington first held horse racing in 1840. It’s most famous for hosting the world’s richest handicap, the Melbourne Cup.

Course: It is a left-handed track with a circuit of just under a mile and a half. Long, sweeping bends and a straight of over two furlongs make the track one of the fairest around meaning there are rarely hard luck stories for our tips. There is also a straight six furlong track for sprint races.

Draw Bias: It can be an advantage for our tips to be drawn low around Flemington. In races over seven, eight and twelve furlongs a bend comes shortly after the start which makes it advantageous to be near the rail.

Feature Race: There are a number of high quality races at Flemington throughout the season, but none more so than the Melbourne Cup. The richest two mile race in the world attracts the best stayers from around the globe on the first Tuesday in November every year.
