Secret Des Dieux improved significantly on his bumper form to take a Fakenham maiden hurdle in good style on seasonal debut. It’s always worth taking note when James Owen teams up with Sam Twiston-Davies and the pair could have another winner here.
Tapley managed to win four times over hurdles and was thrown into a pretty hot race on his debut over fences at Newbury a couple of weeks ago. The handicapper has since lowered his chase mark by 3lb and this race looks significantly easier, making this a good opportunity to get back on track.
Granny B was far from disgraced when finishing third in novice company at Huntingdon last time out and the switch to handicaps could facilitate significant improvement. An opening mark of 92 looks pretty reasonable and a big run shouldn’t be ruled out.
Doctor On Call is half-brother to the smart chaser Martator and his trainer Paul Nicholls has a strike-rate of 25 per cent in bumpers so far this season. Dylan Johnston takes 3lb off and a big run is expected on debut here.

Located in the county of Herefordshire, Hereford racecourse is a National Hunt only venue. Thoroughbred fixtures stopped in December 2012 when Arena Racing Company failed to obtain a new lease from the council. National Hunt racing resumed there in 2016. Course: A right-handed circuit of a mile and a half, it’s almost square in shape and it can often seem like horses are always on the turn. There is a short, downhill run in so we don’t want our tips to be too far back coming into the last.
Feature Race: A few valuable races throughout the year but most notably there is a Handicap Chase just before the Cheltenham Festival in March, which was worth over £16,500 to the winner in 2018.
