Wednesday 9th May sees the fourth instalment of this year’s myracing.com sponsorship series. So far in 2018 we’ve managed to visit Hereford twice and Wolverhampton, but now we’re excited to be heading south for an evening jumps fixture at Fontwell Park. We will have tips for every race at the meeting on Wednesday 9th May on our dedicated Fontwell Tips page.
Through our sponsorship we’ve been lucky enough to strike up some very good relationships with numerous trainers and jockeys and earlier today we were lucky enough to talk to Warren Greatrex about his three declared runners at the West Sussex venue.
In the 6.15 race, a 3m 2f Novices’ Hurdle, Warren runs an interesting contender called Well Smitten. The six year-old gelding ran arguably his best race to date last time and his trainer believes a bold showing is on the cards.
“He’s a probable runner. He’s taken time to come to himself, but he’s definitely better than we’ve seen so far. Decent ground will help and he’ll stay the trip” he said.
Well Smitten has yet to run beyond 2m 3 1/2f, but judged on breeding and his trainers comments an improved effort seems very likely on Wednesday.
Later in the evening Warren, could give a first start for his yard to a horse called Spin A Yarn in the 7.45, the 2m 3f myracing.com for Free Bets and Free Tips Conditional Jockeys’ Handicap Hurdle.
Spin A Yarn has only recently moved to the Upper Lambourn yard from Joseph O’Brien’s establishment, where he won once from four starts for the Irish trainer. Not a confirmed runner on Wednesday Warren had this to say to myracing.com.
“He’s new to us, we got him from Joseph O’Brien. He’s only a possible runner at the moment, but he will appreciate good ground if turning up.”
Finally the 8.15 contest sees quite possibly the most interesting runner from the Greatrex yard. Invisible Clouds, owned by Trevor Hemmings, will almost definitely line up in the closing contest, the 2m 1 1/2f myracing.com for Tips Every Day Standard Open National Hunt Flat Race and his trainer is expecting a very good run.
“Nicely bred, he ran before Christmas but was far greener on the track than he’d shown at home. I think he’s come on significantly for that run and I’m expecting a much better performance” he told myracing.com.
Invisible Clouds could well improve by some way on his debut effort Wednesday evening and might well be worth a look at in the market.
So with the weather on Wednesday set to be something more like we’d expect for May do try and come racing. Show your support to this wonderful West Sussex racecourse, come and say hello to the myracing team around the track and most importantly back a winner or two!
If you can’t make Fontwell we still have eight more meetings to come during 2018 which cover most of England. Hopefully we’ll see some more of you at one of the venues below:
