This is a Class 4 handicap over seven furlongs, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: This could turn out to be a useful little handicap and TRIBUTE ACT can come out on top. She was sent off favourite for a decent enough handicap on her last start and she ran a fine race over a mile. She will do better now dropped back to the scene of her C&D success last year and can take advantage of a mark of 75. Shenanigans can give her the most to think about with the benefit of her seasonal reappearance under her belt combined with the switch to an All-Weather surface.
PARLANCE – Improved for every start last season and that saw her rewarded with a victory on her final start over 7 furlongs in a Class 4 maiden. She makes her handicap debut off a mark of 85 which looks reasonable but she will need to be fit to get the better of some fair sorts although she’s bred to improve again as a 3yo. Jim Crowley takes over in the saddle (18% strike rate in the past fortnight) and she has to be respected in this.
RAVEN’S LADY – Sole success came in a maiden over 7 furlongs at Kempton last September. She was well-supported on her seasonal reappearance earlier this year but she bumped into one that day to finish second. She couldn’t quite get involved in a Class 2 handicap at Ascot last time out but that’s not terrible form and she’s down a pound here. The yard are without a winner from their last 14 runners which is off-putting.
ILLAUNMORE – Had looked high enough in the weights but she ran a fine race behind the smart Amabilis last time out. She’s dropped in trip today which shouldn’t be a problem having shown plenty of pace and Frankie Dettori takes over in the saddle which looks positive off the same mark of 82. She needs to improve again but she shouldn’t be far away coming out of stall 1.
SHENANIGANS – Broke her maiden in fine style at Newcastle last season to win by 3 3/4 lengths. That form doesn’t look the greatest but she wasn’t far away in a Heavy ground handicap at Doncaster last time out and she should be much better suited to today’s All-Weather surface so there’s plenty to like about this daughter of Arcano. Market support would be significant.
VENTURA BLUES – One of the more exposed of today’s runners, Richard Hannon’s daughter of Bated Breath won two Novice Stakes races last year over 6 furlongs. She steps up in trip to 7 furlongs today which raises a slight question mark about her given she’s by Bated Breath who was all speed. She’s up 3lbs in the weights and others make slightly more appeal today.
YARAKI – Won a Lingfield maiden last time out and the form looks reasonable given the third and fourth have gone on to win subsequently. A mark of 80 looks fair on handicap debut and connections will be disappointed if this son of Frankel can’t justify this mark now stepped up in trip to 7 furlongs. Stall 10 isn’t ideal at all and she will need to be rushed up on the outside to get a good position in this.
SYNDICATE – Won a low-grade maiden at Southwell by 3 lengths at the end of last year and she ran a nice enough race off a break at Goodwood last month. She will require much more to score today against some lightly-raced sorts and a mark of 76 looks high enough based on her recent form. The trip and track will suit her though and she’s one for a second look in the betting.
TRIBUTE ACT – Won on debut at Kempton last October and she wasn’t far away in a fair Class 5 handicap at Newmarket last month. She’s been left on a mark of 75 and she’s clearly well thought of at home having been sent off the 5/1 favourite that day. She remains fairly treated with more to come and the step back down in trip should suit so there’s plenty to like about this C&D winner. Respected.
MITIGATE – Well-beaten in tougher handicaps than this on her last three starts. She was entitled to take her chances in those races following an easy 4 length victory in a Lingfield maiden back in February and she’s back to the right grade and trip today. She has something to find with her rivals and connections reach for the first time cheekpieces to get more out of her in this.
ODELOUCA – Lowest-rated of today’s rivals and her sole success came in a weak Chelmsford maiden in November last year. She was well-supported that day when making all and she could be the pace angle again today although she has been held up before. Stall 7 is fine but she’s not as progressive as many of her rivals and others make much more appeal.
