7.40pm Kempton Tips & Betting Preview 03/08/2016

Our race preview takes a look at a London Mile Qualifier at Kempton. See our betting tips below to uncover a horse who is performing very well of late and can build on those performances to notch up another win.

iN SUMMARY: Fly is clearly on an upward curve and that is shown by 3 straight wins to remain unbeaten and has won over C&D twice. Her pedigree suggests she could become some force but she is opposed with THAQAFFA. Tregoning’s colt has ran well the last twice and now headgear is tried which could squeeze out some more. He ran well latest in a higher grade so can resume winning ways.

1 FLY – Unbeaten filly who is very much on the upgrade, winning 3 starts in a row, two of those over 2 C&D. There is surely more to come from her and she has it in her to win a 4th on the bounce, but she has been off for 287 days and she will need to be at peak fitness to beat Thaqaffa and St Mary’s.

2 STORM KING – Todays conditions will be fine for Griffiths’ gelding but has really struggled in two runs so far this year beating 1 rival in each race after missing all of 2015. Can easily be passed over since a return to form is far from guaranteed and is much more exposed compared to the market principles.

3 TOURNAMENT – Won on British debut in 2014 and ran well on the 2 runs after that but has regressed since then, with no wins. His last 2 runs weren’t a disgrace, latest when 3rd of 5 at Nottingham (8.5f, Good), but needs to improve a lot to take this when you look at the form of recent.

4 ST MARY’S – Won at Thirsk latest start (8f, Good) and that continued a very good upward curve of form. It’s very possible there is more in the locker from Balding’s filly but her opening mark is no gift. However she could overcome it easily with some good progression.

5 THAQAFFA – Impressive win at Beverley last month (8.5f, Soft) before very close off of this mark latest at Pontefract (8f, Good). The hood is now tried and if that can eek out a bit more improvement he could get his back in front for Dane O’Neill.

6 SHIFTING STAR – 11yo veteran who won well in June at Windsor (8.5f, Good to Soft). Nowhere near as good last time off this mark and tis race looks much harder so can probably be passed over today with confidence.

7 FREDDY WITH A Y – 66/1 and well held on stable at Kempton latest (8f, AW). Not much can be said for him and really does look like a lost cause in a race like this.
