IN SUMMARY: Panko was unlucky not to win at Goodwood latest and will be dangerous if fully effective on the surface. However, preference is for THEYDON GREY, who ran well in a valuable handicap at Wolverhampton back in March off of today’s mark over shorter. Upped to 1m3f latest when a staying on 2nd at Yarmouth and has more improvement in him and can take this race today. If Rocky Steady responds well to the cheekpieces he could well be a danger after running well on turf recently.

1 ROTHERWICK – Very consistent this season without managing to win. Hard to see him not being involved after a very good 2nd at Epsom latest (1m2f, Good) and is suited by All Weather, finishing 2nd at Newcastle back in June (1m2f, Std). Can only be put up for places chances with his run of placings rather than wins though.

2 THEYDON GREY – Was definitely suited by the step up to 1m3f latest when a closing 2nd at Yarmouth last month (1m3f, Good to Firm) and likes the All Weather, as evidenced by his string of good efforts on the surface culminating in a great 4th in a very valuable handicap over shorter (1m, Std). Races off of the same mark as that today and is unexposed over this trip, so a big run should be expected.

3 ROCK STEADY – In good form on the turf this summer, latest when a good 2nd over 1m4f at Leciester at the start of last month. Should be involved if the first time cheekpieces have the desired positive effect, as he has won on this surface in the past, so that is not an issue.

4 FASHION PARADE – Dual winner this year on the turf but has performed very poorly on her last two outings and since she has not raced on the All Weather before, there are a good few questions to answer. Has the Champion aboard but is too risky to back today.

5 RIVER DART – Out of form this season and hasn’t hit the frame this year in 3 outings. Was in decent form last summer and has past form on the All Weather surface so can’t be entirely discounted but not the most convincing.

6 SAUMUR – Back from a short break with a poor effort at Goodwood (1m4f, Good to Soft) but did have some form in the spring. If getting back to form he has place claims but not convincing for win purposes.

7 PANKO – Very unlucky when upped to 1m3f latest at Goodwood (1m3f, Good to Soft) and should have probably won if he had a clear run. If fully effective on the surface he should have a great chance of winning this but with that doubt other runners look more convincing.

8 OCEAN READY – Only managed to finish 6th and well held at Goodwood latest when upped to this trip (1m3f, Good to Soft). Relatively lightly raced and could have more improvement in him but needs to have the first time cheekpieces work in his favour.
