Horses for courses: One track specialist for every meeting on Thursday

Carntop was very useful on the flat for Ralph Beckett and was pitched into Grade 2 company on stable/hurdling debut in February, running with credit. He’s an obvious contender dropped in grade, but the one to be with today is Dr Richard Newland’s HENRY SMITH. The yard’s runners are flying at present and although he was much inferior on the flat to the aforementioned rival, he clearly relished a switch to this sphere when second at Bangor on hurdling debut last time. That run came after a break and with improvement expected, he can land the spoils.
