National Hunt racing is back! Why Paul Nicholls is the trainer to follow this week

First Flight made a successful stable debut at Ayr two weeks ago and has the beating of Balestra on that form, only pushed out to take victory. The placings are unlikely to be reversed despite a four-pound pull but regardless, preference is for WHATSTHEMESSAGE. She’s been running well of late without winning, including a close fourth at York last month over shorter. She’ll be much happier back at the mile and she’s two from two at this venue, only two pounds above her last winning mark. On that basis, she looks the obvious candidate for victory.
