2.45pm Curragh Tips & Betting Preview 26/06/2016

IN SUMMARY: Sir Isaac Newton comes here after winning at Royal Ascot recently and is afforded plenty of respect but he was suited by the strong pace that day and earlier evidence suggests he might be vulnerable if this smaller-field event becomes tactical. Chemical Charge finished ahead of Aidan O’Brien’s colt when returning form a very long absence in a C&D Listed event and can go well if coping with today’s slower ground.  Sanus Per Aquam who flopped in the Irish 2,000 Guineas last month is interesting but the vote goes to IN MY POCKET (9/1) stepped up to a more suitable trip having run over much shorter last time.

1 Chemical Charge – Comfortably won both British 2yo starts for Ralph Beckett in autumn 2014 and made pleasing return from very long absence when second in a C&D Listed event for new stable this month; big player if able to build on that performance on today’s slower ground.

2 In My Pocket – Still has low mileage and made solid seasonal debut when keeping-on third in Group 3 event at Leopardstown (1m, good) last month; certainly looks worth a crack at today’s longer trip having struggled to get competitive when strangely stepped down to 7f on his latest start.

3 Sir Isaac Newton – Over 2l behind Chemical Charge when third in a C&D Listed race this month but bettered that performance when gaining hard-fought win in Listed handicap at Royal Ascot (1m2f, good to soft) eight days ago; good chance on the figures here but may not be seen to the same affect if this becomes tactical.

4 Agnes Stewart – Group 2 winner as a 2yo in September 2014 and was highly creditable second in the Group 1 Fillies’ Mile the following month, but didn’t race as a 3yo and it’s hard to gauge how she’ll fare after 618-day absence; probably best watched.

5 Sanus Per Aquam – Weakened to finish last of eight when making seasonal debut in the Irish 2,000 Guineas last month but has strong claims if able to recapture his best 2yo form, which includes a Group 3 win at Newmarket (7f, good to soft) in September and a third in the Dewhurst Stakes over that C&D the following month; tries a new trip today.

myracing Forecast Prices: 13/8 Sir Isaac Newton, 15/8 Chemical Charge, 7/1 Agnes Stewart, Sanus Per Aquam, 8/1 In My Pocket
