2.30pm Huntingdon Tips & Betting Preview 10/02/2015

We’ve had a look through the 2.30 Huntingdon tomorrow, analysed every runner and given you a summary with some betting pointers and our tip!

In summary: Vazaro Delafayette gained a convincing win over hurdles when last in action 441 days ago and will be feared if strong in the betting before today’s chasing today. However, a safer option is CASTLE CHEETAH, who jumped and ran well for a long way when runner-up on his chasing debut at Southwell in October. Squire Trelawney could also pose a threat if able to bounce back from a poor run, while Flight Commander will find this easier than his first chasing assignment.

Free Tip: Castle Cheetah at 4/1

LORD GRANTHAM – Gave good account when fourth under positive ride at Stratford (2m6f, good) in June and runs off 2lb lower mark here, but returned from break with moderate effort in November and is now 0-7 over fences; has some form on soft but would probably prefer faster ground.

CASTLE CHEETAH – Pulled up in both handicap hurdles for Martin Keighley last season but made promising stable/chase debut when second of eight at Southwell (3m, good) in October; not seen since then but can evidently go well fresh and is open to further progress over fences.

SQUIRE TRELAWNEY – Kept on well to make winning chase debut at Wincanton (2m4f, good) after long absence in October; will be fine over today’s trip and ought to be capable of better if jumping with greater fluency, but has a point to prove after running poorly last time.

MILLICENT SILVER – Jumped poorly and struggled when fitted with first-time cheekpieces (retained) for chase debut at Newbury in December; this race looks less competitive and she may yet get her act together over fences but some of the others have less to prove.

KAP JAZZ – Hasn’t made the progress that might have been hoped for after winning handicap hurdle debut at Wincanton (2m5f, soft) in December and looked quite a hard ride when fifth over that C&D last month; needs to up his game to make winning start to chasing career.

FLIGHT COMMANDER – Predictably found things tough when making chase debut after long absence here (2m4f) in November but has much better chance at the weights now switched to a handicap and still has the potential to deliver on promise shown in bumpers/maiden hurdles in 2014.

VAZARO DELAFAYETTE – Not seen since gaining breakthrough win over hurdles in first-time blinkers at Newbury (2m4f, soft) in November 2014, his fifth start under rules; however, today’s 6lb higher mark looks manageable if he’s fully revved up and takes well to fences.

HEROES OR GHOSTS – His first two hurdle runs were quite encouraging but he’s been off since a couple of heavy defeats in spring, the more recent on handicap debut over 2m3f; might fare better now upped in trip and switched to fences but others have more pressing claims.

BALLYCOE – Won maiden hurdle on rules debut for Paul Nicholls in October 2014 but was pulled up on next outing and has also disappointed in three chases this season, the last twice for current stable; remains lightly raced but big leap of faith required to support him at present.

myracing Forecast Prices: 11/4 Castle Cheetah, 7/2 Vazaro Delafayette, 6/1 Squire Trelawney, 7/1 Lord Grantham, 8/1 Kap Jazz, Flight Commander, 12/1 Millicent Silver, 14/1 Ballycoe, 16/1 Heroes Or Ghosts
