In a race that could spring up some very useful novice chasers for the rest of the season, 8 go to post here at Warwick on Thursday. See our betting tips and the full race preview below.
IN SUMMARY: DESERT QUEEN made all in impressive fashion at Market Rasen latest in a listed race on chase debut and should strip fitter for it. Harry Fry’s yard is in brilliant order and she should be able to improve for that run to go back to back in listed races over fences. The main dangers are The Organist who should be better than what she should on debut and Briery Belle who was a ready winner on chase dbeut and their should be more to come from her.
DESERT QUEEN – A very classy mare over hurdles and won very well on chase debut at Market Rasen (3m, Good) when making all. This trip wouldn’t be a concern for her and she should strip fitter for that chase debut also. With the brilliant form of the Harry Fry yard at present, she has a brilliant chance of adding a 2nd listed race to her form book.
STEPHANIE FRANCES – Has won 4 out of her last 5 races including a listed race last time out at Bangor (2m1f, Good to Soft). This race much tougher coming up against some better horses with a penalty to contend with also, so could be vulnerable.
BRIERY BELLE – Useful hurdler last season and started well over fences, making all at Cartmel with the minimum of fuss (2m4f, Good). Thoroughly unexposed and should improve for that run so needs respecting with place claims.
MORELLO ROYALE – Won a listed race over hurdles last season but never the most consistent of horses. Needs a career best on chase debut and may just find a few of these too good today.
ROCK ON THE MOOR – 2nd at 66/1 in the Mares Hurdle at The Festival back in March and made a satisfactory chase debut behind a useful Mullins horse at Clonmel last month (2m4f, Yielding). Will need more today but lightly raced for her age and needs respecting for John Harrington.
RONS DREAM – Progressive mare for the Bowens last season and her pedigree gives hope she’ll make an even better chaser. Reappeared with a good 2nd in a listed race at Kempton and should strip fitter for that run so needs considered today.
TAGRITA – Multiple winner over hurdles but was a tad lucky to have beaten The Organist latest on chase debut and probably wouldn’t have done without the mistake from that rival. Should improve for that debut and respected but is unlikely to confirm placings with that rival and may be fighting for places only.
THE ORGANIST – Very progressive hurdler last season and was unlucky on chase debut when a blunder at the final fence put pay to her chances. Ran well for most of the way and should have learned a lot from it, is thoroughly unexposed and should run very well today for Oliver Sherwood.
